Learning at the workplace is a joint effort

Learning at the workplace is implemented in collaboration between the teacher, the student, the workplace tutor and the entire work community. The role of the supervisor in ensuring the preconditions for learning at the workplace and providing learning opportunities are met cannot be too strongly emphasised. The support services of the educational institute are available to workplaces, and their need is mapped out for each student.

In the organisation of learning, the strengths of different parties are utilised. It is the responsibility of the workplace tutor to direct the learning of the student to the operations of the workplace and professional expertise relating to the operations of the workplace. The pedagogical skills of teachers, on the other hand, are used in questions relating to planning, guiding the learning process and assessment.
